you know when you’re lookin for a fight, but everyone’s not that into it, so you break into the guy’s car and you take his wallet out of the glove compartment, and you burn his registration, and you siphon his gas, and you stab into his front right tire, and you leave a note that says “lol”, and you report him on myspace, and you kill their pets, because they grew up with shitty parents, and the onl有lobe調和油ever哈達哇塞fromtheirpets。

Cornwall based Artist, Maria De La O Garrido speaks to Voight Kampff Magazine
Current City: I recently moved from London to Falmouth in Cornwall.
What would you say are the main influences on your artwork. Where do you draw inspiration from? What inspires you as an artist? I have studied photography and fine art and have been in love with the world of the image from always. I also love cinema and literature and I guess the mix betwen all of that and my day by day life is where I find my inspiration. I love travel, I did my last year of university in Mexico, travelling around it and visiting the USA and Canada. Mexico was an important part of my life and something that will inspire me forever.
What are your preferred methods of production and what materials do you like to use? My mediums are Collage and Photography. I prefer to make collage cutting and pasting with scissors and glue, but am starting to investigate with digital as well now. I find the materials I use for collage everywhere; old pictures, old and new magazines, newspapers, food wrappers, envelopes… actually the last treasure I found is a Playboy magazine from 1972, it´s brilliant. With Photography I use digital and film, but I still prefer film.
Favourite music to listen to when creating your artwork? I prefer quiet and relaxing music to work to, for example I listen a lot to Miles Davis´ `In a silent way´, quite a lot of SIgur Ros, I like lots of different kinds of music, it depends on my mood.
Favourite book? If I have to choose one book my mind becomes blank, I read a bit of everything but I would say at the moment `Poet in New York´ , a book of poetry by Federico García Lorca because it is the book I am currently re-reading and its just beautiful.
Favourite film? `Paris Texas´ by Wim Wenders, the script is by Sam Shepard whose writing I very much admire.
